About Me

As my blog might suggest, I enjoy baking pies and hiking.  But obviously I do not spend all of my time doing these two activities.  I teach 8th grade English and 6th grade Religion at a local Catholic middle school, and I previously taught Humanities and English at Reseda Science Magnet.  As part of my love of the English language, I enjoy writing essays, short stories, and poetry.  I also enjoy reading (mostly novels and poetry but I also like some non-fiction).  Although I am not an expert by any means, I do appreciate a variety of  arts including dance (salsa!), theater, film, and the occassional trip to a museum to view exhibits of all kinds.

Travel is another one of my passions; it is very closely linked to my love of hiking because when I travel I love to go on long walks or hikes, exploring the natural beauty of places all over the world.  In 2005 I took a tour of Europe and was lucky enough to see some of the continent's most famous sights, works of art, and landmarks.  I have also travelled to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and various other parts of the United States.

Most of my free time is spent with the people I love and care about--my boyfriend, Ben, my parents, Jan and Kevin, my sister, Breanna, and my best friends, Shannon and Erika.  I consider myself the luckiest woman in the world.  I have a great job that affords me enough leisure time during vacations so that I can explore my passions and interests, a comfortable home, great friends, two happily married parents, a smart, talented sister, and an amazing boyfriend who I love very much.  I am so happy.
